Huntington University to host State Thespian Conference

HUNTINGTON, Ind. Huntington University will welcome more than 700 of Indiana's high school thespians to campus on Jan. 20-22 for the State Thespian Conference.

This is the first year that the university has hosted this conference.

"Huntington University is very honored to be able to play host so many talented high school students with an interest in all aspects of theatrical arts," said Steve Pozezanac, director of Merillat Centre for the Arts and conference events. "Attending from all corners of the state, each high school troupe will perform snippets of theatrical productions. They will be competing and judged in dozens of categories including design costume construction, scenic design, makeup and of course acting. It will be an exciting three days."

Indiana Thespians is an official chapter of The Educational Theatre Association, the professional association for theater educators in the United States, Canada and overseas, according to its website. The honorary society for high school theater students, The International Thespian Society, has inducted more than two million members since its founding in 1929, the website said.
