Huntington University to present ‘Mr. Scrooge’

Huntington, Ind.-Huntington University will present "Mr. Scrooge" at 9 p.m. on Dec. 5 and at 2 and 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 6 in the Studio Theatre of the Merillat Centre for the Arts.

"Mr. Scrooge" is a "Town Hall Production," a project of the university's Theatre Ensemble course.

Mr. Scrooge (Matt Freer) and Mr. Crachit (Willis Barber) discuss the meaning of Christmas.
"Mr. Scrooge" features a book by Richard Morris and Ted Wood, music by Dolores Claman, and lyrics by Richard Morris. This production tells the familiar holiday tale of Ebenezer Scrooge, a cold-hearted miser who is visited by three ghosts on a magical Christmas Eve. The ghosts, by revealing Scrooge's past, present and future, initiate a transformation that opens Scrooge's heart and warms it to the beauty of kindness, humanity and the spirit of Christmas. "Mr. Scrooge" features all the classic Dickens' characters including Jacob Marley, the Cratchit family, the Fezziwigs and, of course, Tiny Tim.

Fred (Alex Lute), Mr. Scrooge's nephew, tries to convince Mr. Scrooge (Matt Freer) of the merit of Christmas.
General admission is $2, and tickets may be purchased in advance or at the door. For more information or for tickets, call the Merillat Centre for the Arts Box Office at (260) 359-4261.
