HU’s theater camp soars with ‘Disney’s Aladdin Jr.’

HUNTINGTON, Ind. Do you have dreams of soaring on a magic carpet or finding a genie in a magic lamp? Then, "Disney's Aladdin Jr." is the place to be this summer.

Huntington University will host its annual Summer Theatre Youth Camp from June 23 July 12 for kids in grades 2-12.

Welcome to Agrabah as all of your favorites from Disney's hit film return to the stage for a musical adventure filled with magic, mayhem and flying carpet rides. Join Aladdin, Jasmine, Iago, Jafar, the Genie and more as they tell this fantastic tale of a street rat who becomes a prince.

The camp will begin June 23 and run through July 12. Campers will meet 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Camp will not meet on July 4. At the end of the session, campers will present two performances of the musical at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on July 12.

During their time at camp, campers will learn acting, singing and dancing skills. Children also are learning valuable skills, developing language and communication abilities, creativity, social awareness, a positive self-concept and empathy as well as gaining an understanding of the art of theater.
