Indiana Beta Chapter of Alpha Chi inducts 20 new members

Huntington, Ind. " Huntington College recently welcomed 20 new members into the Indiana Beta Chapter of Alpha Chi. Students were recognized during the Huntington College convocation chapel on September 13, 2002, for their superior academics and exceptional character demonstrated in extracurricular activities and service.

Membership in Alpha Chi is the highest academic honor at Huntington College and represents a recognition of scholastic achievement and a commitment to promoting academic excellence on and off campus, said Dr. Paul E. Michelson, Distinguished Professor of History and chapter sponsor for Alpha Chi on Huntington College's campus. The national motto of Alpha Chi is the same as that of Huntington College: 'You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.'

Alpha Chi is a national honor society for undergraduate juniors and seniors in all academic disciplines. In 1997, it celebrated 75 years of activity at its Philadelphia national convention. Its objectives are the stimulation, development, and recognition of scholarship and those elements of scholarship that make scholarship effective for good.

The Indiana Beta Chapter of Alpha Chi National Honor Scholarship Society was established in 1967. At the 2002 Alpha Chi Regional Convention on March, 22-23, 2002, the Indiana Beta Chapter was recognized for winning the 2001 National Alpha Chi President's Cup as the Outstanding Chapter of Alpha Chi and received a sixth-consecutive Star Chapter award.
