Jeff Allen to send laughs through Merillat Centre

Comedian Jeff Allen will perform in
the Merillat Centre for the Arts on
October 3.

Huntington, Ind. " More than anything, Jeff Allen likes to make people laugh, and, rare among comedians, he knows a joke doesn't have to be dirty to be funny. Allen is one of the few comedians who can kill 'em at a casino in Las Vegas and then bring down the house at the Baptist Youth Missionary Board...doing the exact same act.

Funny is funny, says Allen, who will perform in the Merillat Centre for the Arts at Huntington College on Friday, October 3. What makes people laugh works anywhere. I don't change a word.

As an atheist from Chicago's south side, Allen had crawled across America's grittiest comedy club floors. Drinking and drugs slowly blew his career apart, and after years of rage, sadness and pain, Allen turned to Alcoholics Anonymous and dried out. And through the generous help of a total stranger, Allen found comfort in God.

The single greatest gift I get from my relationship with Jesus is peace, Allen stated. For the first time in my life, I am at peace in my own skin. From that peace, I am able to do what I love to do " make people laugh. I've been a comic for twenty-plus years, and right now I'm having the time of my life. It is true that life does begin at forty.

Allen has since been the featured performer at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C., worked with a top gospel quartet and secured a development deal with Castle Rock Television to produce a sitcom based on his ultra-clean family-friendly standup comedy, Happy Wife, Happy Life?

Allen's eight o'clock comedy performance on the evening of October 3, is underwritten by Geiger Development. The cost of tickets are $11, $13 and $15, with a $2 discount for students and seniors. To reserve seats or for more information, contact the Merillat Centre Box Office at (260) 359-4261.

Jeff Allen's performance at Huntington College is a part of HC's homecoming festivities.
