John Wait presents original research
Huntington, Ind.- Huntington College Senior John Wait of Lake Odessa, Michigan calls for more focused criteria to be used to judge product advertising. On Tuesday, April 17, John presented research from his paper, "The Case for Virtue in Marketing," to the Indiana University, Purdue University Fort Wayne Student Research and Creative Endeavor Symposium.
According to Wait, "This essay is a direct response to the class on consumer behavior I had over January Term. People need to realize that they live in a society where moral rules are being continually bent further and further for the sake of no more than a couple dollars." He continues, "The intention of this essay is to use ethics as more than a tool for discussion. Rather, it is hoped that this will identify a complicated problem, and inspire a search and rescue effort for morality in the marketing industry."
Wait, a philosophy major, was chosen to present his research at the symposium from an abstract he submitted to an IPFW faculty committee. He plans to send his paper to an undergraduate philosophy journal in hopes of having it published. Philosophy is one of over 50 academic concentrations offered at Huntington College, a four-year Christian liberal arts college located in Huntington, Indiana
