Judy, Hale to perform in Huntington senior recital

Huntington, Ind.-The Huntington University Music Department will present a combined senior recital by soprano Kara Judy and clarinetist Beth Hale on Nov. 16 at 7:30 p.m. The recital is to be held in the Zurcher Auditorium at the Merillat Centre for the Arts. The recital is free, and the public is invited. Kara Judy is a senior church music major at Huntington University from Pierceton, Ind. She is studying voice under Mrs. Joni Killian. Throughout high school she competed in many ISSMA competitions, winning first place all four years. She also was involved in her high school choir and musicals where she was in the chorus in "Fiddler on the Roof" and "Oklahoma"; Marion in "The Music Man" and Lady Thiang in "The King and I." At Huntington University, Judy has been involved in Women's Chorale, Concert Choir, Handbell Choir and Preeminence. She has also won the 2006 and 2007 Concerto Competitions.
Beth Hale
Beth Hale, a senior at Huntington University and a native of Brooklyn, Mich., is working toward a Bachelor of Music degree in instrumental music education, with an emphasis in clarinet. She hopes to eventually teach music at the elementary school level and pursue music therapy licensing.
Hale is a student of Mr. John Gardner of Huntington. She has performed with the Huntington University Wind Ensemble, Chamber Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble, Women's Chorale, Handbell Choir, Preeminence, Forester Pep Band and Commencement Band.
Some of the pieces that they will be performing are Johannes Brahms' "Zigeunerlieder," Faure's "En Priere" and "Sonata for Clarinet and Piano" by Felix Mendelssohn. "The Prayer" by Carole Bayer Sager and David Foster will be performed as a clarinet and soprano duet, and a clarinet trio will perform "Chaconne Trio" by Jonathan Hall.
