Leonard, Dillon to discuss work of General Assembly

Huntington, Ind.-State Rep. Dan Leonard and state Sen. Gary Dillon will discuss the recently completed session of the Indiana General Assembly and the impact it will have on Indiana at the Huntington University Foundation breakfast on April 9. The breakfast line will open at 7:45 a.m. in Huntington University's Habecker Dining Commons, and the program will conclude by 9 a.m. The cost is $6 per person. First-time guests eat free.
The Huntington University Foundation hosts a monthly breakfast meeting open to anyone interested in learning about current issues and Huntington University programs. Breakfast meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month, September through May, at the Habecker Dining Commons. State Sen. Gary Dillon
Rep. Dan Leonard has represented Indiana House District 50 since his election in 2002. Since that time, he has been assigned to the Judiciary, Labor and Employment, Public Policy, and Ethics and Veterans Committees. Currently, Leonard serves as ranking minority member of the House Employment and Labor Committee and sits on the House Ways and Means Committee, which oversees the state's fiscal responsibilities.
Prior to his service as a public official, Leonard was a member of many economic development committees in his community. He has served as past president of the South Side Business Association in Huntington County, president of the Huntington Chamber of Commerce and Salvation Army board member in the region. Since 1978, Leonard has owned and operated the Southside Furniture Company in Huntington. Economic development and job creation are among Leonard's top priorities.
Leonard and only a handful of other legislators have achieved a perfect voting record in the Indiana House. Leonard also was awarded the prestigious "Legislator of the Year Award" by the Aviation Association of Indiana during the 2006 session.
Sen. Gary Dillon has represented Indiana Senate District 17 since his election in 2002. Since that time, he has been assigned to the Energy and Environmental Affairs, Ethics, Health and Provider Services, Local Government and Elections, and Tax and Fiscal Policy Committees. Currently, Leonard serves as the vice-chair of the National Standing Committee on Health for the National Conference of State Legislators.
Prior to his service as a public official, Dillon was a physician and clinical professor of dermatology for the Indiana University Medical Center. He has served as past president of the Whitley County Health Department, Whitley County School Board, Indiana Dermatological Society and the Whitley County Memorial Hospital staff. Dillon also served in the Indiana Air National Guard.
