Liston to present senior theatre project
FOR RELEASE: Sunday, November 5, 2006
Huntington, Ind.-Rebekah Liston will debut her original work, "Broken Wings," as her senior theatre project at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 17 in the Studio Theatre of the Merillat Centre for the Arts. "Broken Wings," a one-act play, features a main character, "Angel," who finds herself pulled by three forces: "Jacob," "El," and "Mason." "Jacob" represents the church. He is the only guide and teacher Angel has ever known and has taught her everything. "El" represents God, who shows her new things that Jacob has hidden from her. He hints to Angel that Jacob's knowledge is not infallible and pushes Angel to discover things for herself. "Mason," who represents the world, slanders Jacob at every turn and is constantly looking for ways to show Angel how wrong Jacob is.
"It parallels the struggles in my life to hear and obey God," said Liston, a theatre performance major from Columbus, Mich.
Tickets are $2, and the event is open to the public. To purchase tickets, contact the Merillat Centre for the Arts Box Office at (260) 359-4261.
