MacDonald named to social work faculty

HUNTINGTON, IN "Carla MacDonald has been appointed to the position of Assistant Professor of Social Work at Huntington University. Currently the Administrator of Kids Kampus in Huntington, MacDonald has a rich history of service to the Huntington community. She will join Tywla Lee, associate professor of social work, in heading up Huntington University's social work program which premiered last fall.

"Teaching at the college level has been a long term goal for me, MacDonald said. I want to make a positive impact upon college students just like a special professor made an impact upon me years ago.

MacDonald has over 25 years of experience in social work, teaching, counseling, and community service. She holds a Bachelor of Social Work degree in Social Work from Manchester College, a master's degree in Social Work from Indiana University, and a Master of Business Administration degree from St. Francis University. She has also served as a social worker, Director of Client Services, and marketing director with Pathfinder Services.

I owe so much of what I am today in regards to my knowledge and skills in social work practice on the experiences which Pathfinder Services has provided to me over the past 26 years, MacDonald said. The persons served, their families, and a dedicated group of employees have helped make me into the social worker I have become".

MacDonald's professional experience also includes serving as a consulting social worker for Parkview Huntington Hospital, a Mental Health Consultant for the Samaritan Counseling Center in Huntington, and as an outpatient therapist for Bowen Mental Health Center, also in Huntington.

In addition to serving the Huntington area through her professional career, MacDonald has extensive volunteer experience in the local community.
