MacDonald to perform in concert
FOR RELEASE: Tuesday, October 4, 2005
Huntington, Ind. "Shawn MacDonald, a Seattle-based singer and songwriter, will appear in concert at Huntington University on Friday, October 21 at 7:30 p.m., in the Zurcher Auditorium in the Merillat Centre for the Arts. MacDonald has made big waves in Christian music recently with songs like Gravity and has captivated audiences with his powerful testimony and coffeehouse acoustics. MacDonald's first album, Simply Nothing, debuted nationally in August 2004. Perhaps even more inspirational than his music is his testimony. Saved by God's grace after a life of childhood abandonment and substance abuse, MacDonald now shares both his songs and stories on stages across the country. His follow-up album, Live in Seattle, was released in April 2005, and includes live renditions of music from his debut album, as well as new tracks.
Audiences have come to know MacDonald for his personal honesty and willingness to tackle life's hard truths.
Honesty is huge, MacDonald said. That's what I think people connect with in my concerts. I get up there, and I talk about my life and my struggles and my experiences, good and bad. I sing and talk about it all. I talk about the grime of life. I can't understand a version of Christianity that would deny all that. How can we have a true picture of what grace is if we don't admit our own sin and brokenness?
The MacDonald concert is underwritten by FUSE FM 105.5, Huntington University's radio station. For ticket information on the Shawn MacDonald concert, contact the Huntington University Merillat Centre for the Arts Box Office at (260) 359-4261. Tickets are $8 for general admission and $5 for students.
