Marsden to discuss ‘The Examined Christian Life’

Huntington, Ind.-Dr. George Marsden, professor emeritus of history at the University of Notre Dame, will be the first speaker for the 2007-2008 Forester Lecture Series at Huntington University.

The event is at 7 p.m. on Aug. 29 in the Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat Centre for the Arts.

Marsden is the author of definitive studies on Jonathan Edwards, the secularization of American higher education, and Protestant Fundamentalism, as well as the widely read "Outrageous Idea of Christian Scholarship." His presentation, "The Examined Christian Life," will speak to the subject of education within the context of the Christian life, and it inaugurates a series of future addresses at Huntington University on the mission of Christian higher education.
