Martin Luther King Day features convocation, movie

HUNTINGTON, IN-The public is cordially invited to attend a Martin Luther King Day observance at Huntington College. Dr. Herma Williams, associate provost of Gordon College (MA), will be the guest speaker. Her address will be titled, "Martin Luther King: Looking Forward, Looking Back, Keeping the Dream Alive." Prior to joining the faculty of Gordon College, Dr. Williams was a professor of education at George Mason University (VA). She has a keen interest in South Africa. She is a member of the board of directors of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) and serves as a resource person for the CCCU's Women and Leadership workshops as well as its Racial Harmony Commission.
The convocation will be at 11:15 a.m. on January 15 in the Merillat Centre for the Arts. In addition to Dr. Williams, several students from the multicultural task force will be participating in the program commemorating Dr. Martin Luther King.
The movie, "The Power of One" will also be shown on Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. in the HUB. The movie tells the story of one boy who decided to make a difference in South Africa and how his decision challenged apartheid.
