Martin Luther King Jr. Day service to feature Dixie

Huntington, Ind.-Huntington University will observe Martin Luther King Jr. Day with a commemoration service that will feature speaker Dr. Quinton Dixie, assistant professor of philosophy at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne.

The service will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 19 in the Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat Centre for the Arts. The event is free of charge and open to the public.

Dixie earned his Ph.D. from Union Theological Seminary. His research interests include African-American religious history, religion and labor, hip-hop and spirituality, and religion and the Civil Rights Movement.

The service also will include special music.
