McConnell awarded Staff Member of the Year

HUNTINGTON, IN " Huntington College held its annual appreciation dinner for faculty and staff on Tuesday, May 14, in the Habecker Dining Commons on campus. Many campus community members were recognized for their service to Huntington College, and Rich McConnell was honored with the Staff Member of the Year award. McConnell, Director of Gift Planning, was chosen by faculty and staff members at Huntington College as the Staff Member of the Year. I feel deeply honored to have been chosen as Staff Member of the Year. It is a particularly humbling experience to know that my peers were instrumental in nominating me for the award. The Lord has been gracious to the McConnell family during our 29-year association with Huntington College. We praise His name.
Others recognized at the banquet were Ron and Joan Webb for their four years of service with the College. Ron Webb served as Vice President and Dean of the College. The Webb's will be moving to China to serve at Jingmei University.
Dr. John Sanders, Professor of Philosophy and Religion, was recognized as Professor of the Year, which was awarded last week by the Huntington College student body. Members of the campus community who have served for five years received a Huntington College pin. Those individuals were Luke Fetters, Karen Jones, Molly Rainbow-Kesler, David McEowen, Paul Nalliah, Wayne Priest and Jeff Roloff. Plaques representing ten years of service at HC went to Beth Dubois and Stephen Holtrop. A desk pen and pencil set representing 15 years of service at HC went to Barbara Bible, William Bordeaux, Dwight Brautigam, Jerald Gressley, Paul Smith, Barbara Thompson and Sharon Woods. Randy Newman and Sylvia Reed were given individualized gifts for 20 years of service a the College, and a watch or desk clock was given to Chaney Bergdall, Denise Brauchla, Richard McConnell and Winfield Wetherbee for 25 years of service.
Individualized gifts were given to three individuals who will retire after the fiscal year. Paul Fetters, Professor of Practical Theology, served for 30 years at HC; James Hoffman, Director of Alumni Relations, served for 24 years; and Barbara Bible, Library Secretary, served for 15 years.
