Merillat Centre presents “An Evening of Chamber Music”

Huntington, Ind.- Cellist and author David Rezits will join Huntington University's Patricia Spedden for "An Evening of Chamber Music" featuring treasured works for cello and piano. A part of Huntington University's Visiting Artist Series, the concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. on February 1 in Zurcher Auditorium.

David Rezits, cellist in the Fort Wayne Philharmonic since 1991, holds degrees from Indiana University and the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He has worked with renowned conductors including Leonard Bernstein, Seiji Ozawa, Kurt Masur Gunther Schuller, Maurice Abravanel, Maxim Schostakovich and Robert Shaw. He collaborated with a CD recording with classical guitarist and composer Suliaman Zai, and has taught and performed internationally in music festival in the Czech Republic, Peru and Ecuador.

Rezits is also author of a celebrity musicians' cookbook, Culinary Harmony. Copies will be available for purchase at the concert.

Dr. Patricia Spedden is a professor of music and director of piano studies and theory at Huntington University. A native of New York City and winner of several concerto competitions as well as awards for piano performance, she has appeared as piano soloist with symphony orchestras in the East and Midwest. She holds bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees in piano performance and has studied with Beveridge Webster, Pia Sebastiani and Menahem Pressler.

She frequently performs solo and chamber music professionally and has presented a number of scholarly papers. She released a CD recording of her sacred piano arrangements based on classical piano works titled Classical Praise in 2002. The CD is marketed nationally and internationally by Discovery House Music through Butterfly International Distribution. In 2007, she released a second CD titled Classical Praise 7: Solo Piano Encore.
