Merillat Centre presents annual Freimann Concert

Huntington, Ind. "The Merillat Centre for the Arts will present its annual Freimann Concert on February 17 at 8 p.m., featuring the principal musicians of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic Orchestra. The audience will be treated to a rich tapestry of sound as the Freimann String Quartet brings to life the music of the 19th and 20th centuries. Among the pieces showcased will be Christopher Rouse's Ku-Ka Ilimoku, Ibert's Trio pour violin, vioncelle at harpe, Brian Prechtl's What is Good, and Beethoven's String Quartet in C-sharp minor, Op. 131. Additional works for percussion will also be featured.

The Freimann chamber music ensemble is composed of the Philharmonic's principal musicians: Hiromi Ito, Glen Cherry, violin; Margaret Prechtl, viola; Deborah Nitka Hicks, cello.

Partial funding for this performance has been provided by Bailey-Love Mortuary. Tickets are $7 for adults (general admission seating). Discounts are available for children and seniors.
