Miller presented award for top dissertation

Huntington, Ind. " Dr. Kevin Miller, assistant professor of communication at Huntington College, recently received the Religious Communication Association (RCA) award for the top dissertation of the year in the field of communication and religion. Dr. Miller's dissertation, Religious Identity and Discourse of the Other: A Narrative Analysis of the Subordinate Role of the Jew in the Apocalyptic Texts of Two Christian Groups, was completed at the University of Kentucky. The award was presented at the annual banquet of the RCA which was held during the National Communication Association convention in Miami Beach, Fla., on November 22, 2003. Along with best dissertation, the banquet also included awards for the 2003 RCA Scholarship, best article and best book. The RCA is an academic society founded in 1973 with interests in the study of all aspects of public religious communication. It strives to promote honest, respectful, and profound dialogue that reflects the diversity of religious beliefs, subject matter concerns, methodologies and professions of its members.
Miller holds a B.A. in English from Eastern Mennonite University (Va.), a M.A. in journalism from The Ohio State University, a diploma in Christian ministries from Rosedale Bible College (Ohio), a PhD in communication from the University of Kentucky, and is a candidate for a master's degree in the History of Christian Thought from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (Ill.). Miller has served as associate editor and writer for Christianity Today magazine and as editorial associate for the academic peer-reviewed Journal of Broadcasting & Electronic Media. He has published articles in Christian History, Your Church, Christian Reader, New Man and Leadership Journal magazines. He has also taught English and communication courses at Wheaton College (Illinois) and the University of Kentucky.
