Ministry professors invited to exclusive conference

Huntington, Ind. " Huntington College ministry professors, Dave Rahn, Gary Newton and Karen Jones are among only 15 academicians invited to participate in Group Publishing's Best Practices Professors/Practitioners Summit in Loveland, Colo., from July 31 to August 3. The summit is the first stop in the month of August for Jones, assistant professor of Educational Ministries. From August 5-8, she will travel to Nashville, Tenn., where LifeWay Publishing has invited her to help design a new youth discipleship curriculum resource, to be called Vital Signs. The curriculum will serve as a follow-up resource to Vital Truth, a resource Jones helped design and write a couple years ago.
On August 9, Jones will lead a parent's discipleship conference for three days at Ridgecrest Conference Center in Black Mountain, N.C. From August 12-14, she will then travel to Fort Worth, Texas, to begin the layout process of a new youth ministry textbook that LifeWay has asked her to co-author.
Jones joined the Huntington College faculty in 1997, and serves as the Educational Ministries department head and associate director of the Link Institute for Faithful and Effective Youth Ministry. Jones received her PhD and MA degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and her MS and BS degrees from Southwest Missouri State University. She is a veteran youth minister, with more than 15 years of experience in church ministry. She is a frequent conference speaker and experienced writer. Jones serves on the advisory board of the Youth Worker Journal and the executive board of the professional organization of Youth Ministry Educators.
