Music students earn local, regional honors

HUNTINGTON, IN " Three Huntington College music students competed at the regional National Association of Teachers of Singing Competition at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor in mid-October. The region consists of Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Ontario, Can.

Rusty Eshleman (Saint Thomas, Pa.) took third-place in the Sophomore Men's category. Dana Frick (Kendallville, Ind.) took honorable mention in the Junior Women's category, while Maria Rhodes (Celina, Ohio) also participated for Huntington College.

Dr. John Thompson, assistant professor of music, participated in various categories as a judge. It was a wonderful experience, and I'm very proud of our students, he said.

In Huntington College's annual Concerto Competition held October 21, Rhodes was one of two college winners. Pianist Jolene Gipe (Columbia City, Ind.) joined Rhodes in the selection to perform in the Fifth Annual Concerto Winners Concert on April 22.
