‘Nero Bloom’ returns to HU for DVD release party

Huntington, Ind.--Mystery! Suspense! Adventure! The student film "Nero Bloom: Private Eye" will return to the Huntington University campus for a free screening and DVD release party on Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. in Zurcher Auditorium. After touring the film festival circuit over the last several months, "Nero Bloom" has brought director/producer Jason Eberly and writer/producer Nathan Hartman such acclaim as the "Best Student Feature" award at Cinema City Film Festival in Los Angeles and the "Chris Award" (the highest award given to a film production) from the Columbus International Film Festival.
"Since the Cinema Center premiere, 'Nero Bloom' has had great success in the festival circuit, Eberly said, "so I am so excited for the film to come full-circle back to Huntington for the DVD release!"
Called "nothing short of astonishing" by Steve Penhollow of the Journal Gazette, the film tells the story of Nero Bloom, a young 1940s gumshoe, who is hired to tail a suspicious down-and-out gambler. But, when the gambler winds up dead in a hotel elevator, the game is on and Nero is a suspect. With action, suspense and seduction, Nero must travel a labyrinth of clues to reach one twisted ending.
"I'm truly honored that Huntington University chose 'Nero Bloom' for DVD duplication," Eberly said. "I was blessed with a cast and crew of over 80 volunteers, and to be able to have hard copies available for them to cherish is priceless."
The 45-minute film has several Fort Wayne area connections. Jason Eberly, the director and producer of "Nero Bloom," is a Fort Wayne native. Bethany Edlund, a Huntington University junior who plays "Veronica St. Claire," hails from Roanoke, Ind. Dana Christy Minnick ("Barbara Lomax") and Darren Turney ("Brute") both reside in Fort Wayne. Dr. Lance Clark, Huntington University associate professor of communication and executive producer of the film, is also a Fort Wayne resident. Screen writer and producer Nathan Hartman is from nearby Berne, Ind.
