One Act Play Festival to be directed by five HU students

Huntington, Ind.-Five Huntington University students will direct five one-act plays for this year's One Act Play Festival on April 30 and May 1.

All five one-act plays will be performed in the Studio Theatre located in the lower level of the Merillat Centre for the Performing Arts at Huntington University. Three of the one-act plays will be performed at 7:30 p.m. April 30. The other two one act plays will be performed at 7:30 p.m. May 1.

The box office is offering a package deal for anyone interested in attending all five shows. Tickets cost $3 to attend both nights and $2 for those only interested in attending one night.

For reservations, call the Merillat Centre Box Office at (260) 359-4261 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

The festival features the directing work of the following five HU students:

Junior Bethany Edlund, a theater performance major from Fort Wayne, Ind., will be directing "The Boys Next Door" by Tom Griffin. The show stars freshman Nate Adams and sophomore Breana Balliet.

Senior Tory Nelson, a digital media arts/film production major from Granger, Ind., will be directing "'Dentity Crisis" by Christopher Durang. The show stars juniors Courtney Swenson and Bethany Edlund, seniors Matthias Austin and Peter Owens, and sophomore Kate Smith.

Junior Courtney Swenson, a theater performance major from Landenberg, Pa., will be directing "Sorry, Wrong Number" by Lucille Fletcher. The show stars seniors Alicia Bonham, Laura Hood and Jon Huffman; junior Phil Black; and sophomores Nick Kight, Amber Dawn-Katulic, Willis Barber and Brianne Morrison.

Junior Mary Russell, a theater performance major from Columbia, Mo., will be directing "The Author's Voice" by Richard Greenberg. The show stars sophomores Nick Kight and Kate Smith; and junior Kieran Jackson.

Junior Samantha Freeman, a theater performance major from Portland, Ind., will be directing "The Actor's Nightmare" by Christopher Durang. The show stars sophomores Matt Craig, Kendra Kendall, Meagan Heffner and Dom Corsoe; and junior Hannah Megill.

All one act plays are student directed, acted and designed. "The Boys Next Door," "'Dentity Crisis," and "Sorry, Wrong Number" will be performed at 7:30 p.m. April 30. "The Author's Voice" and "The Actor's Nightmare" will be performed at 7:30 p.m. May 1.
