Outstanding Scholar Award Presented to Kreischer
HUNTINGTON, IN April 24, 1997 --- Trent Kreischer has been selected as the winner of the 1997 Outstanding Scholar Award at Huntington College. This award goes to the outstanding graduating senior member of the Indiana Beta chapter of Alpha Chi National College Honor Scholarship Society by vote of the local chapter's members. The award recognizes outstanding academic achievement and contributions to the academic environment of Huntington College and is the highest academic distinction given on Forester Night.
Mr. Kreischer is a senior education major from Convoy, Ohio. He is currently president of the Indiana Beta Chapter and has participated in both regional and national conventions of Alpha Chi. In 1997, he led a discussion roundtable on chapter activities at the National Convention in Philadelphia. During his service as president, the Indiana Beta Chapter was selected as one of 28 Star Chapters nationally (of more than 300 Alpha Chi chapters nationally) for its active programs. The local chapter sponsors lectures and carries out service projects, including one this year with Habitat for Humanity. "I have been very pleased with the level of commitment to academic excellence and service shown our Alpha Chi chapter and the leadership which Trent has given to it," said chapter sponsor, Dr. Paul Michelson. "This award is an appropriate recognition of his work on campus and off."
