Popular music expert to present Bob Dylan lecture

Huntington, Ind.-Huntington University's Department of English will host Dr. Larry David Smith, associate professor of communication studies at Ball State University. Smith will present "Writing Dylan: The Songs of a Lonesome Traveler" at 7 p.m. on Jan. 8 in the Longaker Recital Hall of the Merillat Centre for the Arts. There is no charge for admission, and the lecture is open to the public.
Smith has expertise in the subjects of popular music and rhetoric. He has written two books about Bob Dylan, "Writing Dylan: The Songs of a Lonesome Traveler" (Praeger, 2005) and "Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, and American Song" (Praeger, 2002), as well as books about Pete Townsend, Elvis Costello and Joni Mitchell.
