Priest named Professor of the Year

Huntington, Ind. " Dr. Wayne Priest, assistant professor of psychology at Huntington College, was awarded the distinguished Professor of the Year honor at the 33rd annual Forester Night at Huntington College on Tuesday. The award, voted on by the student body, is presented each year at the Forester Night ceremonies.

When I was announced as the award recipient, I was surprised and felt very honored " and promptly forgot over half of the witty things I had thought that I could say if my name was announced! said Priest. It is nice to be recognized by students for what I really have a heart for doing. I love teaching and especially investing in students' lives. It is rewarding to be applauded for doing what I have a passion to do!

Before coming to Huntington College in 1998, Dr. Priest served as a clinical psychologist in Carmel, Ind. He completed his Ph.D. in counseling psychology and gerontological assessment at Ball State University in 1993. Priest obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and religion in 1980, and a Master of Arts degree in religion in 1983 from Anderson University. He has been an adjunct professor in general psychology and other psychology courses for Anderson, Purdue and Indiana Universities. Priest has had several additional years of counseling experience at various clinics. He has participated in more than three dozen workshops on a range of topics, including aging, Alzheimer treatment, MMPI (Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory) interpretation, cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy, and more. He has made presentations on similar topics at various conferences and has been published in Clinical Gerontologist.
