Priest to speak at Women’s Auxiliary fall breakfast

Huntington, Ind.-The Huntington University Women's Auxiliary fall semester breakfast will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at the Habecker Dining Commons. "God's Gift of Sexuality" will feature Dr. Wayne Priest, associate professor of psychology at Huntington University. Priest completed his Ph.D. in counseling psychology and gerontological assessment at Ball State University in 1993. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts in psychology and religion in 1980 and his Master of Arts in religion in 1983 from Anderson University. He has been an adjunct professor in general psychology and other psychology courses for Anderson, Purdue and Indiana universities. In addition, Priest has had several additional years of counseling experience at various clinics. He has participated in workshops on a range of topics, including aging, Alzheimer's treatment, Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory interpretation, and cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy.
Priest teaches more than 100 students each semester and enables several students each year to conduct, write and present original research. Last April, he led a group of students to the Michigan Undergraduate Psychology Research Conference at Sienna Heights University where six separate groups presented their independent research. He has served on several university committees and is actively involved in the community serving as a board member for Pathfinder Services, Inc. Priest has given presentations on various topics and recently participated in the Day of Healing Conferences sponsored by the Wabash Friends Church.
Priest will conclude his presentation on human sexuality with constructive principles which should be most helpful to parents, grandparents, students, teachers, counselors, Sunday school teachers and youth leaders.
Music will be presented by Alicia Pyle, a sophomore piano performance major. Pyle was a member of the Fort Wayne Youth Orchestra for four years and received the Outstanding Senior Award. She has performed in three young people's concerts with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic Orchestra at the Embassy Theater. She also was a featured performer at 2006 Fort Wayne Philharmonic Gala: A Grand Night for Music. In addition, she has appeared with the Manchester Symphony. Along with her performances, she finds time to teach piano to 25 students.

The United Brethren Women's Missionary groups support the auxiliary, and with the annual garage sale proceeds, various campus projects have been completed. The current project is the refurbishing of the Wright Hall study room. The annual garage sale will be held on campus Oct. 20-21. Donations are welcome.
