Professor to present seminar about chemical sensors

Huntington, Ind.-Dr. William Heineman, from the University of Cincinnati, author of several well-known chemical instrumentation textbooks, will give a seminar titled "Chemical Sensors: Why They Are Important To You!" at 4 p.m. Nov. 16 in Hiner Hall in the Science Hall at Huntington University.

Heineman is distinguished research professor at the University of Cincinnati. Heineman's research interests include an array of analytical techniques including spectroelectrochemistry and chemical sensors. He has published more than 300 research papers and patents and has presented more than 500 lectures at conferences, universities, and government/industrial laboratories, and has received many awards for outstanding research and teaching.

He is coauthor of the laboratory manual "Chemical Experiments for Instrumental Methods," the instrumental analysis textbook "Chemical Instrumentation: A Systematic Approach"; and coeditor of the textbook "Laboratory Techniques in Electroanalytical Chemistry."

The lecture is free and open to the public.
