Pryor selected for Indiana Farm Bureau scholarship

Huntington, Ind.-Through an annual scholarship program, Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance is actively encouraging students at Indiana's independent colleges and universities to pursue careers in the insurance profession. This program, managed by the Independent Colleges of Indiana, recently awarded its second round of scholarships to students majoring in business, insurance or another insurance-related field.

The 2008 recipients of $1,500 scholarships were Lindsay Pryor of Huntington University and Randi Shellman of University of Saint Francis. Pryor is an entrepreneurial/small business major from Sheridan, Ind. She and Shellman were selected by a review panel of Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance representatives.

"If one graduate of an independent college remains in Indiana as a result of these scholarships, I would consider the program a resounding success," said Rick Nelson, public affairs director for Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance. "It would be even better if that graduate pursues a career in the insurance industry."

"Now more than ever, we know that there is a critical need for financial assistance, such as this scholarship, for worthy students," said Hans Giesecke, ICI president and CEO. "That need was reflected this year in a significant increase in the number of applications for this award. We also know that our colleges and universities are well-positioned to help Indiana address the need for high-quality insurance professionals because of the strong business and finance-related programs offered on our campuses."
