Record enrollment announced at Huntington University

Huntington, Ind. " Huntington University president G. Blair Dowden announced a record fall enrollment of 1,019 students at this morning's breakfast meeting of the Huntington University Foundation. The student body at the Christian college includes 844 undergraduates, 105 students enrolled in the EXCEL Program and 70 students enrolled in graduate programs.

The University enrolled a total of 267 new students, including 39 students transferring from other institutions. The incoming freshman class of 229 was the second largest in the institution's history. The freshman class lists an overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.44 on a 4.0 scale, the second highest ever at the University. The highest GPA was 3.45 a few years ago.

Dowden said that new academic offerings introduced by the University last year have attracted many new students. New programs at Huntington include the Master of Education degree, Master of Arts in Counseling Ministry, and additional bachelor's programs in social work, digital media arts, economics and finance, political studies, sports ministry, and worship leadership.

Thirty-one international students are enrolled at the University, representing 16 countries throughout Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, and Europe. The University has enrolled undergraduate students from 27 states, including 546 from Indiana.
