Registration for BandFest 2002 now accepted

Huntington, Ind. "The Huntington College Music Department is now accepting registration for BandFest 2002. Members of the community can receive personalized attention from some of the nation's finest civilian and military musicians. The 23rd Annual Band Clinic will be held on March 16, and will feature clinicians in-residence from Chicago and 2nd Lieutenant Bryan Miller as the Guest Conductor. Clinicians will be available for every instrument.
Miller is the Commander and Conductor of the Air National Guard Band of the Midwest. He has traveled the United States and Europe as a trumpet soloist and is presently the director of instrumental ensembles for the Leyden High Schools and trumpet instructor for undergraduate and graduate music majors at VanderCook Musical College.
Members of the clinic, along with the clinicians, will present a gala open to the public on Sunday, March 17, at 3 p.m., in the Merillat Centre for the Arts. Several patriotic pieces will be performed at the gala, as well as excerpts from Symphony No. 1, Lord of the Rings, by Johan de Meij.
