Huntington, Ind. "Senior Maria Rhodes was selected for the Ladies Auxiliary Scholarship awarded on Friday, February 10, 2006, at Huntington University's Honors Convocation. Rhodes is a music performance major from Celina, Ohio. Dr. George Killian, chairman of the Music Department, presented her with the scholarship for excellence in research.
The Ladies Auxiliary donated an organ, which was then sold for $2,000, and those funds are being used for scholarships. Rhodes received a $400 scholarship. The Music Department plans to continue the scholarship for other students over the next five years.
Receiving the scholarship was an honor for the recognition of a project in which I invested many hours of research and reflection. It was also the means to pay some bills, Rhodes said.
