Robert E. Wilson Gallery to feature a variety of media

Huntington, Ind.-Huntington University's Robert E. Wilson Gallery will host a variety of exhibits for the 2006-2007 season, showcasing oil painting, pen and ink, ceramics and a myriad of other media. Audrey Ushenko's figurative oil paintings will be featured from Sept. 6-29 with an artist reception at 6 p.m. on Sept. 8. Ushenko is professor of drawing and painting at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne.
The Huntington University visual arts faculty exhibit highlights recent creative work by Ken Hopper, assistant professor of art; Andy Dickson, assistant professor of art; and Rebecca Coffman, professor of art. The exhibit will be on display from Oct. 6-Nov. 3 with an artists' reception to be held at 6 p.m. on Oct. 13.
"The Art of Visual Development for Disney's 'Treasure Planet'" will feature works created by Michael Spooner and will be in the gallery from Nov. 8 to Dec. 10 with an artist reception at 6 p.m. on Nov. 8.
"The New Aesthetics of Ceramics" will highlight pieces from 30 emerging functional clay artists whose work challenges the aesthetics ideals of the ceramics field. The exhibit's curator is gallery owner and sculptor Charlie Cummings of Fort Wayne, Ind. Works will be on display from Jan. 30-Feb. 28 with an artists' reception at 6 p.m. on Feb. 2.
Huntington University will host the annual high school art exhibit from March 7-28. This is a juried invitational from regional high school students. The awards reception will be at 6 p.m. on March 10.
From April 10-24, the 17th annual juried student art exhibit will feature works created by Huntington University visual arts students during the current school year. The awards reception will take place at 6 p.m. on April 14.
The gallery's final exhibit during the school year will showcase the work of graduating visual arts majors from April 30-May 11 with an artists' reception at 6 p.m. on May 5.
