Savage to serve as Vice Chair of Board
FOR RELEASE: Wednesday, October 27, 2004
Huntington, Ind. "Kelly Savage was recently elected to the position of Vice Chairman of the Huntington College Board of Trustees during its mid-October meetings. Savage, a 1983 business graduate of Huntington College, is chief information officer for Alticor, the parent company of Amway, Quixtar and Access Business Group. Also during the trustee meetings, the Board voted to change the name of the institution to Huntington University, effective before the beginning of the 2005-06 school year. Savage served on the Huntington College University Task Force, a group appointed in 2003 to explore the implications of adopting university status.
I view this as setting a long-term vision for the campus to increase its prestige and broaden its curriculum, said Savage regarding the name change. It follows what the president, faculty and trustees have done to continue to raise the bar for the institution.
Along with the election of Savage, Edward Souers, managing partner of Christen Souers LLC, an accounting firm in Fort Wayne, Ind., was elected Chairman of the Board. David Tinkey, a commercial banking finance manager for Bank One in Indianapolis, Ind., was elected Secretary of the Board.
