Schaefer to present Christian perspective on science

Huntington, Ind.-Dr. Henry F. Schaefer III, professor of chemistry at the University of Georgia, will be featured in the Forester Lecture Series at 7 p.m. on April 16 in the Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat Centre for the Arts. His presentation, titled "Big Bang, Stephen Hawking and God," will offer a Christian perspective on scientific theories of the origin of the universe.

Schaefer is an internationally renowned scientist, author and lecturer. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Ph.D. from Stanford University. He has served on the faculties at University of California (Berkeley), University of Texas (Austin), University of Paris and Australian National University. His lectures and publications have profoundly influenced the field of modern chemistry and have earned him numerous international awards, including election to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the Royal Society of Chemistry (London). He speaks frequently on the relationship between science and religion.
