Seven seniors feature work in Graduating Visual Arts Majors Exhibit

Huntington, Ind.-Seven graduating seniors will exhibit their work during the Huntington University Graduating Visual Arts Majors Exhibit which runs April 12-23 in the Robert E. Wilson Gallery in the Merillat Centre for the Arts. The artist reception will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. April 17. The show is titled, "La Fin," in honor of the students completing their degrees.

The Wilson Gallery is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., before and after all Merillat Centre performances and by appointment. The gallery is free and open to the public.

Michelle Antus, a graphic design major from Mansfield Ohio, will be showcasing a presentation of secrets collected from the Huntington University student body as well as a corporate branding and advertising package for a coffee shop.

Laura Hood, a graphic design major from Akron, Ohio, will showcase a collection of press packets and a set of nine photo collages.

Janna Larimore, a graphic design major from Elizabeth, Ill., will be exhibiting a Huntington University inspired cookbook as well as two different corporate identity packages.

Rebekah Raby, a graphic design major from Arcanum, Ohio, will be showing a Web site that illustrates various aspects of lilies. She will also be exhibiting a set of sixteen double-exposure images meant to demonstrate that God is everywhere even in ordinary, everyday places.

Courtney Schwerin, a graphic design major and native of Flanagan, Ill., will be showcasing an originally designed and illustrated children's book written by her father, Kent Schwerin, and several large-format computer illustrations based off of her childhood.

Jenna Thurston, a visual art education major from Van Wert, Ohio, will be displaying three small paintings and one large 5-by-4 painting, all inspired from her trip to Italy in summer 2009. Her second senior project is a series of wood block prints of doorways from Italy and several monotype prints of Italian landscapes.

Justin Wentz, a graphic design major from Greencastle, Pa., will be exhibiting a series of fantasy illustrations titled, "Curious Conduct," as well as a group of drawings/illustrations depicting the character-development process used by the entertainment industry.
