Smith releases ‘Britain and Origins of Vietnam War’

Huntington, Ind.-Dr. Timothy O. Smith, assistant professor of history at Huntington University, has released a new book titled "Britain and the Origins of the Vietnam War: UK Policy in Indo-China, 1943-50."

"Offering a bold new interpretation of British foreign policy, 'Britain and the Origins of the Vietnam War' deftly examines Britain's involvement with Vietnam from Churchill's World War II deliberations - about Roosevelt's desire to remove Indo-China from the French Empire - to the zenith and subsequent unraveling of British foreign policy in 1950," said a description from Palgrave Macmillan, the book's publisher.

The 256-page hardcover book is available through the United Kingdom publisher's Web site. The U.S. release is scheduled for Nov. 13.
