Spedden releases second ‘Classical Praise’ CD

Huntington, Ind.-Dr. Patricia Spedden, director of piano studies at Huntington University, has released her second album titled "Classical Praise 7: Solo Piano Encore." It is published and marketed by Discovery House Music in Grand Rapids, Mich.

The compact disc features sacred piano arrangements blended with classical piano works, all arranged and recorded by Spedden. As with the first CD, Spedden said her inspiration has been that the selections would offer peace, comfort and hope for the listener.

The CD's 10 arrangements include combinations such as Michael Joncas' "On Eagle's Wings" with Frederic Chopin's "Sonata in B Minor." Other sacred songs such as "Guide Me O Thou Great Jehovah," "God So Loved the World," "The Majesty and Glory of Your Name" and "Down from His Glory" are blended with works by Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Debussy and Ginastera.

"Classical Praise 7: Solo Piano Encore" is available through Christian bookstores or may be ordered directly from Discovery House online at www.dhp.org or by phone at (800) 653-8333.

This album is a follow-up to Spedden's first CD, "Classical Praise: Solo Piano," released in 2003.

A native of New York City and winner of several concerto competitions as well as awards for piano performance, Spedden has appeared as a piano soloist with symphony orchestras in the East and Midwest. She frequently performs solo and chamber music professionally, and has presented a number of scholarly papers.

She holds bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees in piano performance and has studied with Beveridge Webster, Pia Sebastiani, and Menahem Pressler.
