Students to present essays at Christianity conference

Huntington, Ind. "Two Huntington College students will present essays at the Mideast Conference on Christianity on October 19-20 in Dayton, Ohio. The theme of the essays will focus on science fiction and Christianity. Tai Mauney, a senior English major from Anderson, Ind., will read her essay, God in the Image of Man or Machine: The Problem of a Personal Deity in Sharon Shinn's Samaria Trilogy. Craig French, a senior English major from Holland, Ohio, will read his essay, The Worthing Saga: Finding Meaning in Existence in Light of Orson Scott Card's 'No Problem of Pain.'
Each essay was derived from information and ideas discussed in Prof. Todd Martin's recent J-Term class, Christianity and the Science Fiction World View. The essays have been written independent of all required schoolwork.
Other HC students attending the conference include Kristi Cates, a sophomore English and Print Media Communication double major from Sweester, Ind., Carole Nickle, a sophomore English and Sociology major from Thornhill, Ontariol, and Clair Pontius, a sophomore English Education major from Bloomington, Ind.
