Thompson receives Staff Member of the Year award

Huntington, Ind. "Huntington College recently held its annual appreciation dinner for faculty and staff. Many campus community members were recognized for their service to Huntington College, while Barbara Thompson was honored with the Staff Member of the Year award. Thompson, the College's Administrative Assistant to the President since 1996, was chosen by faculty and staff members at Huntington College as the Staff Member of the Year. She has served the College for 18 years and before receiving the award, Dr. G. Blair Dowden recognized her for her resourcefulness, initiative and servant leadership.
During her 18 years at the College, Thompson has served several roles including Secretary to the Graduate School of Christian Ministries (1987-88), Administrative Secretary to the Dean of the Graduate School of Christian Ministries (1988-93), and Administrative Secretary to the Vice President for Advancement (1993-96).
Others recognized at the banquet included Rev. Luke Fetters, assistant professor of ministry and missions, who was selected as the Professor of the Year by the student body. Members of the campus community who have served for five years received a Huntington College pin. Those individuals included Thomas Bergler, Mark Hesting, Gary House, Nathan Perry, Susan Stong, Cathy Trout, John Wagner, Jerry White, and David Woodruff.
Plaques for ten years of service were presented to Thomas Ayers, Tana Fortney, Amy Johnson, Ned Kiser, Ruth Nalliah, Margaret Pasko and Steven Platt. An engraved pen and pencil set for 15 years of service were given to Kenneth Hopper, Evelyn Priddy and Margaret Roush.
Norris Friesen, Patricia Jones, Carlene Peters and David Rahn were presented an individualized gift for 20 years of service. For 25 years of service, Beth Lahr was given a desk clock. In addition, Nancy Rogers and Marlene Schleiffer were recognized for their retirement.
