Two HC students receive servant leadership award

Two Huntington College students received the HC Servant Leadership Award. The purpose of this award is to recognize students who have demonstrated leadership in the area of community and ministry service. Students are nominated by staff, faculty, and peers and must be juniors with a 2.5 GPA or above to be eligible. Two $1000 awards are granted and recipients are awarded with $750 and asked to designate $250 to the charity of their choice.

The recipients of this years awards are Angela Molidor and Linda Neely. Molidor, daughter of Russel Molidor and Dana Miklos, is a Recreational Management major. The charity she has chosen to donate $250 to is the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Molidor is involved with several service activities with the Joe Mertz Center for Volunteer Service. These activities include acting as the co-director of the JMC, blood drive coordinator, a Red Cross Liaison, and a Basic Aid Training Teacher. She was also the student plunge coordinator, (a volunteer experience for all new students at Huntington College) a member of the Disaster Team, a Leukemia Society Volunteer, and a Christian Ministry Coordinator.

Neely, daughter of Richard and Amy Neely, is a Sociology major. The charity she has chosen is World Relief. Activities Neely is involved with are also connected to the Joe Mertz Center for Volunteer Service. She has participated in Love Church, an inner city youth group. She also participates in the Tutoring program, the adopt-a-grandparent program, and acts as Bingo Buddies leader (a local nursing home program). She has been with on several missions trips: Northern Ireland, Ecuador, and Jamaica.

Molidor and Neely were presented with their awards at the Joe Mertz Center banquet, Monday, May 7th.
