Venture Works offers business planning workshops

Huntington, Ind.-Venture Works, a resource center for entrepreneurs, will host a series of business planning workshops at Huntington University. These free sessions will be open to the public and are recommended for all participants in the inaugural Huntington County Business Concept Challenge for high school and college students and for all participants in the second annual Huntington County Business Plan Competition. Each workshop session will be held twice to allow for conflicts in schedules. Workshops will be held at Huntington University, Loew Building, lower level, room 065. Workshops will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. for participants in the business concept challenge and 6 to 7:30 p.m. for participants in the business plan competition. The workshop schedule is as follows:

Title: Boot Camp I: Business Concept Basics & Creating a Winning Plan
Date: Wednesday, Feb. 20, or Monday, March 3
Title: Boot Camp II: Marketing Elements of a Sound Business Plan
Date: Monday, Feb. 25, or Tuesday, March 4
Title: Sleuthing the Internet (Research) & Capital Sourcing Options
Date: Tuesday, March 25 (OPTIONAL)
Title: Critiquing the Plan: Presentation Practice and Facilitator Feedback
The registration deadline for the Huntington County Business Concept Challenge is Monday, March 31, 2008. Participants must complete an application, include a $10 non-refundable application fee and provide a three- to five-page executive summary of their business concept.
