Wilson Gallery to showcase children’s book illustrator

Huntington, Ind. "While growing up, Patrick Girouard's teachers often scolded him for drawing monsters in class. Years later he illustrated his first book, Halloween Holiday Grab Bag, and put those monsters to good use. The illustrator of over 100 children's books, Girouard's work will be on display September 6 " October 4 in the Robert E. Wilson Gallery at the Huntington University Merillat Centre for the Arts. Visitors will have a chance to meet the artist at a gallery reception held on Friday, September 16 from 6 " 7:30 p.m.

Girouard uses a variety of mediums for his books including hand-made paper, colored pencil, markers, watercolor, gauche, fabric, and digital media. His work includes More or Less a Mess, Yikes-Lice! (Science Books and Films Best Books), I Have A Weird Brother Who Digested A Fly (Society of School Librarians International Honor Book), and Paul Bunyan. He's also produced work for such clients as National Geographic, Sesame Street Magazine, USA Today, Kid City, Scholastic, Spider, Weekly Reader, and Instructor Magazine.

A native of Hammond, Ind., Girouard is a well-known speaker at Young Author Conferences, schools and libraries all over the east and Midwest.
