Archer to speak at September leadership luncheon

Huntington, Ind.-On Sept. 24, the Huntington University Center for Leadership will host a leadership luncheon open to business and community leaders.

The luncheon will feature Beth Archer, executive director of the Indiana Agricultural Leadership Institute. The organization was established in 1983, and Archer joined the staff in 1991 as the program director of the Indiana Agricultural Leadership Program. She became the executive director in 1995 and has the responsibility of administering all programs of the institute, developing resources, and connecting the work of the institute with the partners that support and are served by the institute's efforts.

Archer's presentation is titled "Leading in a Complex World." Her involvement and passion is in endeavors that strengthen people. She strongly believes that the most important work leaders do is to help people reach their potential.

The luncheon will be held in the upper level of Habecker Dining Commons from noon to 1 p.m. The cost is $20, and it includes lunch. Discounts are available when two or more attend from the same business or organization. To register, call Barb Baker at (260) 359-4069. Walk-ins also are accepted.

This event is part of a series of luncheons that is offered on the fourth Thursday of every month.

The Huntington University Center for Leadership is housed on the university's campus in the EXCEL Adult Degree Programs office. Under the direction of Dr. Rick Upchurch, director of the EXCEL program, the CFL provides leadership training and resources to businesses, community leaders and pastors in northern Indiana.

The Indiana Agricultural Leadership Institute is a non-profit organization committed to building the leadership capacities of the agricultural and rural communities and enhancing the dialogue among the various interests related to these two communities.

Beth Archer's educational background is in home economics education at Purdue University with advanced work in the areas of education and public administration at Ball State University and Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. Prior to her work with the institute, she taught home economics at Connersville High School, served as the state advisor for the Future Homemakers Association/Home Economics Consultant for the Indiana Department of Education, and was an account manager for AgriBusiness Group.
