Baker, Chafin receive April Peer Awards

Huntington, Ind.-Recipients of the Huntington University Peer Award for the month of April are Cindy Baker and Kris Chafin. Kristina Wust (left) passes the Peer Award to Cindy Baker.
Kristina Wust, cashier, passed the Peer Award to Cindy Baker. Baker is the EXCEL program assistant academic coordinator in Whitley County and has been with the university for one year. In recognizing Baker, Wust said, "From day one, Cindy stepped into her role in the EXCEL office and made it her own. On every occasion I have had the pleasure of dealing with Cindy, she has had exceptional follow-up both on behalf of the student and Huntington University. She always has such a cheerful countenance, and I always look forward to seeing her on campus. What a blessing it is to know that Huntington University has such a qualified, capable, caring representative in the Columbia City EXCEL location."

Deb Cherry, adjunct faculty in the Mathematics Department, passed the Peer Award to Kris Chafin. Chafin is director of learning assistance and has been with Huntington University for 14 years. In recognizing Chafin, Cherry writes, "As the director of learning assistance, Kris Chafin does a terrific job working with students and faculty to see that students' unique learning needs are accommodated. I sincerely appreciate the way that she communicates with me regarding students' needs. She seeks input and provides insights in every attempt to help students be both successful and responsible. It has always been clear to me that Kris has a strong desire to see students achieve and as we have administered the Accuplacer together, I have always admired the way that she administers this crucial test in a way that put students at ease. Her caring and professional manner inspires me to treat others in a like manner. Thanks, Kris, for being such a good example to all of us!"
