Buff, Killian acknowledged with August Peer Awards
FOR RELEASE: Tuesday, August 14, 2007
Huntington, Ind.-Recipients of the Huntington University Peer Award for the month of August are Cynthia Buff and Dr. George Killian. Sylvia Reed, administrative systems applications specialist, passed the Peer Award to Cynthia Buff. Buff is Athletic Department secretary and has been with the university for four years. In recognizing Buff, Reed said," I have never worked directly with Cynthia. But, I see her every weekday when I am in the Merillat Complex for Physical Education and Recreation before work. She always greets me with a smile and friendly conversation. I especially appreciate her kind words of encouragement concerning my alopecia areata condition. Many times, she has changed a bad day into a good day because of her gracious and considerate words. I appreciate her friendship."
Dr. George Killian receives the Peer Award from Anita Wickersham.
Anita Wickersham, associate professor of accounting and business, passed the Peer Award to Dr. George Killian. Killian is assistant professor of music and has been with Huntington for six years. He is also an avid photographer. In recognizing Killian, Wickersham wrote, "I was reminded once again this spring how fortunate we are to have Professor Killian in the Music Department. The university's choir numbers during commencement always perfectly fit the traditions of the occasion and are beautifully performed under George's guidance. George lends his musical talents to numerous campus and community events throughout the year, including directing the performance of the 'Messiah' during the Christmas season. Under his leadership, the Music Department recently renewed its NASM accreditation. On a more personal note, while recently traveling with George to a CCCU conference, he must have sensed the risks of being on a chocolate-free flight. He averted a potential meltdown by showing me the financial statements of his photography business that were on his laptop."
