Caley, Vanden Akker acknowledged with Peer Awards

Huntington, Ind. "Recipients of the Huntington University Peer Award for the month of February are Karol Caley and Kevin Vanden Akker.

Amy Johnson, mailing services coordinator, passed the Peer Award to Karol Caley. Caley is the Admissions office manger and has been with the University for 17 years.

In recognizing Caley, Johnson said, The Admissions office sends more mail out than any other department on campus, and I appreciate that Karol is always so good about making sure everything possible is done to make my job easier. Karol is a diligent and faithful worker, and it is obvious how dedicated she is to Huntington University. Karol always has a smile on her face and a kind attitude. Karol has been an inspiration to me on a personal level through her updates to the campus on the adoption process of Allison. Karol is dutiful in seeking God's will for her life and being patient for His timing. Huntington University is blessed to have Karol as an employee, and I have been blessed for knowing her.

Randy Metzger, instructional technology specialist, passed the Peer Award to Kevin Vanden Akker. Vanden Akker is the athletic trainer and an instructor in physical education and has been with the University for 14 years.

In recognizing Vanden Akker, Metzger said, Kevin Vanden Akker is dedicated in serving the students and staff at Huntington University. He is willing to learn new technical skills and apply them to his work. Recently, he successfully incorporated a new learning management system into his classes so his students could have access to course materials on the Internet. Kevin serves the community with an enthusiastic spirit. I am thankful to pass this award to Kevin.
