Cizik to speak at annual Ball Lecture

Huntington, Ind. "The Huntington College Forester Lecture Series presents Rev. Richard Cizik as the speaker for the annual Walter and Georgianna Ball Lecture. The public is invited to share in this free lecture on Monday, October 4, at 7 p.m. in the Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat Centre for the Arts. In his lecture, Living Your Dreams and Making a Difference in the World, Cizik will share how God led him to a political career and discuss how Christians can be involved in the sphere of politics. He will draw from more than 20 years of experience as a Christian involved in politics and attempt to give the audience a vision for influencing the world for Christ.
As Vice President for Governmental Affairs of the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE), Cizik's primary responsibilities include setting NAE policy direction on issues before Congress, the White House and Supreme Court, and serving as a national spokesman on issues of concern to evangelicals. He also has the important task of editing publications such as NAE Washington Insight and directing NAE's Washington Insight Briefing and Christian Student Leadership Conferences.
Early in his career, Cizik was instrumental in arranging for the late President Ronald Reagan to speak at a meeting of the National Association of Evangelicals. In 1983, Cizik, then a legislative researcher for the NAE's Washington office, wrote Reagan an invitation to speak before the convention on a general topic of religious freedom and the Cold War. Reagan accepted and then proceeded to deliver his now famous evil empire speech which laid out Reagan's foreign policy stance toward the former Soviet Union.
Cizik will also be the featured speaker for the Huntington College chapel service on Tuesday, October 5, at 10 a.m., in the Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat Centre for the Arts.
