Colonel Collins to speak at next Foundation breakfast

Huntington, Ind. " Colonel Perry M. Collins, Vice Commander of the 122nd Fighter Wing, Indiana Air National Guard headquartered at Fort Wayne International Airport, will speak at the next Huntington College Foundation breakfast on Wednesday, April 9, 2003. Colonel Collins will discuss his experiences as a non-traditional student in the Huntington College EXCEL program.

The public is cordially invited to attend. Breakfast will be served at 7:45 a.m. in the Habecker Dining Commons. The program will conclude by 9:00 a.m. The cost of the breakfast is $6 per person. Colonel Collins began his military career by enlisting in the Indiana Air National Guard, Fort Wayne, in 1964. He attained the grade of Master Sergeant within seven years and was the unit's first active duty recruiter. He was accepted for the Air National Guard Academy of Military Science and received his commission in 1973.

In 1995, Colonel Collins received a Bachelors Degree in Organizational Management from Huntington College through the EXCEL Program for Adults, graduating with honors. He has since earned a Master of Science in Management from Indiana Wesleyan University, receiving the honor of Outstanding Professional.

Colonel Collins has earned several awards and decorations, some including the Meritorious Service Medal, the AF Commendation Medal, the AF Achievement Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. Colonel Collins was selected by the Indianapolis Star/News for the prestigious Eugene C. Pulliman Military Achievement Award in 1969. Along with other various achievements, he served on the United States Air National Guard Support Council in Washington, D.C., was the Roanoke Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year in 1995, serves as vice president of the Baer Field Armory Board, and serves as an adjunct faculty instructor for Huntington College, Indiana Wesleyan University and Oakland City University.
