Dennison, Harner named Foresters of the Year

HUNTINGTON, IN " The 31st annual Huntington College Forester Night was held Tuesday, May 7, at Huntington College. Forester of the Year and Professor of the Year were announced as well as the Outstanding Senior Awards in various departments. Forester of the Year and Professor of the Year are chosen by a student body vote, taken the week before Forester Night. Departmental awards are chosen by the professors of each department.

Ryan Dennison, a youth ministries major from Madison, Iowa, was named Male Forester of the Year by his peers. While at Huntington, Dennison has been a Resident Assistant and a Dean's List honoree multiple times.

Katie Harner, a theatre-performance major from Rockford, Mich., was named Female Forester of the Year by her peers. While at Huntington, Harner was a four-time letterwinner on the women's basketball team, a member of the campus praise and worship band, Joyful Noise, a Dean's List honoree multiple times and participated in numerous theatre performances.

Dr. John Sanders, Professor of Philosophy and Religion, was named Professor of the Year by the Huntington College student body. Sanders' was most recently the Extraordinary Fellow at the University of Notre Dame Center for Philosophy of Religion. He earned his Th.D in systematic and philosophical theology from the University of South Africa. Prior to coming to Huntington College he served as head of the religious studies program at Oak Hills Christian college in Minnesota. Sanders has authored or edited three books, which have been listed in the top 20 of Christianity Today magazines book of the year awards. One of these, The Openness of God, he co-authored with Professor Hasker (among others). The other two award winning books are No Other Name and What About Those Who Have Never Heard? His latest book is The God Who Risks: A Theology of Providence from InterVarsity Press. He has also published several articles and chapters in books. Most recently, his paper, The Assurance of Things to Come, was published in Looking to the Future: Evangelical Studies in Eschatology, ed. David Baker, (Baker Book House, 2001). Sanders and his wife, Jody, have been married for 24 years and have five children.
