Dr. Steve Lee to discuss school violence

Huntington, Ind. " The Huntington College Foundation will host its next monthly breakfast on Wednesday, February 9, 2000. Psychology professor Dr. Steve Lee will discuss ways to prevent violence in schools. The public is cordially invited to attend. Breakfast will be served at 7:45 a.m. in the Habecker Dining Commons. The program will conclude by 9:00 a.m. The cost of the breakfast is $6 per person. First-time guests are not charged. Growing violence among youth has captured the attention of everyone in the country, says Lee. That violence has spilled over into our schools, bringing unwanted grief and notoriety " Columbine, West Paducah, Kentucky, Jonesboro, Arkansas, Springfield, Oregon, and others. What do we know about the factors that have helped to create this problem? Are there steps that can be taken to stem the tide of youth violence? These are complex questions, but we'll try to overview the answers.
Dr. Steve Lee has taught psychology at Huntington College since 1986. He is also an adjunct professor in the Marriage and Family Therapy program at Denver Seminary, and has counseled in private practice. He is the co-author of Boys to Men, now in its second printing by Moody Press. The book offers practical strategies for parenting adolescent sons.
Psychology is among many distinctive programs available at Huntington College. Founded in1897, the Christian liberal-arts college offers graduate and undergraduate degrees in nearly 50 academic concentrations.
